"With 17 smaller pieces by Khachaturian, Debussy, Rachmaninov, Komitas, Khudoyan, Schumann, Bloch, Tchaikovsky, Loboda and Vine, the cellist Mikayel Hakhnazaryan and the pianist Lia Hakhnazaryan span a temporally and geographically wide arc, which, they say, « reflects stations in life from Armenia via Switzerland to Germany. » Stylistically confident, always adapted to the theme and the time, the two performers play at a high level, sensitively and in good dialogue. The interpretative approach is not one of passion, but of relaxed cantabile, which gives some compositions like Debussy’s Sonata or Schumann’s Fantasiestücke more charm than in many other interpretations."
