„Die Stadt Petersburg blickt auf eine bewegte Vergangenheit zurück und verdichtet die verschiedensten kulturellen Einflüsse zu einem ganz eigenen Profil. Dabei ist das Cello-Klavier Duo auf zahlreiche Neuentdeckungen rund um Dimitri Schostakowitsch gestoßen: Boris Goltz, Galina Ustvolskaya, Boris Arapov... und als Welt-Ersteinspielung: Leonid Gorokhov. Eigene Arrangements der spanischen und jüdischen Lieder von Schostakowitsch sind hier ein bewusstes Symbol dafür, wie ein schaffender und neugieriger Geist sich fremden Kulturen nähert.
