On her new album, recorder player Clara Guldberg Ravn, together with members of Concerto Copenhagen, focuses on the recorder concertos of Georg Philipp Telemann.

Telemann published such works throughout his career, in a wide variety of collections, thereby tracing an evolution from the late Baroque to the sentimental style. In doing so, he had the opportunity to showcase not only his melodic inventiveness but also his stylistic versatility and technical brilliance.

Guldberg Ravn vividly brings out the different characters in the plays, ranging from cheerful to brooding. Thus, an entire musical landscape unfolds, serving as a prime example. She is able to showcase the full range of her artistry, which flatteringly highlights the recorder’s diverse tonal qualities.

The musicians of Concerto Copenhagen, too, ensure an engaged and fulfilling performance through their precise and clearly articulated playing, which illuminates Telemann’s charm and stylistic versatility to the fullest.
